Teaching Certifications

Named one of Yoga Journal International’s Top Yoga Instructors Under 30 to Watch, my teaching style combines a unique blend of traditional Ashtanga and Rocket-based alignment with a fluidity and movement inspired by Primal Flow, Prana Flow, Vinyasa Flow, and other modalities, with the goal of inspiring students to move both freely and intelligently. As a former radio show host, music is an integral component of my classes, and I often teach to the sounds of a live DJ or musician.

With over 1000 hours of teaching experience, I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance.

Larry Schultz created the Rocket routines, a series of postures based on a modification of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary and Intermediate Series while on tour teaching yoga to the Grateful Dead. There are 3 original series referred to as Rocket I, Rocket II, and Rocket III. The Rocket series renews energy and vitality in the body, working directly on the joints and stimulating all of our bodies systems.  It is an intelligent system that allows students to move safely through a practice linking breath and asana. The sequence is designed to invigorate and strengthen students with advanced postures, while still staying accessible through modifications and practicing acceptance of the bodies’ present abilities

The word “Vinyasa” simply means the linking of breath and movement. Jennie’s Vinyasa Flow classes pull from her experience practicing yoga from a wide range of lineages for a decade, including: Power Flow, Ashtanga, Rocket, Budokon, Jivamukti, Prana Flow, and more. Classes typically follow a progression similar to the Ashtanga system, starting with poses that activate the sympathetic nervous system, followed by those which tap into the calming parasympathetic nervous system. Expect a grounding in traditional, building-block postures as well as funky variations.

Restorative Yoga

In a world where we're constantly pulled in multiple directions and in sympathetic nervous system - aka 'fight or flight' - mode, Restorative yoga aims to move students into a state of parasympathetic nervous system - aka 'rest and digest' - mode. Classes include long-held, relaxing postures in a dimly lit, comfortably warm space. While the postures are physically easy to hold, the practice of finding stillness is not. With thoughtfully sequenced postures and guidance into a meditative state, students leave feeling zen and renewed.

Primal Yoga® Flow is a fluid and thoughtfully sequenced class that combines movement and breath to cultivate the flow of Qi and pranic energy throughout the body. We seamlessly blend yoga with slow flowing movements inspired by Tai Chi and Kung Fu into a harmonious dance to create balance, strength and synergy in our physical and emotional bodies.

Created by Liz Arch, Primal Yoga® is a dynamic yoga and martial arts fusion style that merges Vinyasa yoga with the artistry of Kung Fu and the grace of Tai Chi into an athletic, heat-building flow, while focusing on alignment, balance, strength, power, and flexibility.

Private Sessions

Interested in working one-on-one? Private sessions are a great way to develop your personal practice. Ask questions. Request a focus on specific postures or parts of the body. Take the time to learn more about the non-asana aspects of yoga, including philosophy, breath work, meditation, and more.

I teach regular weekly sessions with private clients at Bluebird Sky Yoga and in clients' homes, and fill ad hoc requests for individual or semi-private sessions.
